Khatami: Rejecting the referendum is not in the interest of the regime

In a meeting with a group of artists and journalists yesterday, Khatami said “if this suggestion (referendum) is rejected, it practically means that all legal ways have been blocked for the people, and this will lead to the development of conditions not in the interest of the regime.”

“This suggestion is completely legal and can guarantee the survival of the regime.  Therefore, in a situation like this, it is best for this suggestion to be accepted.”

One Response to Khatami: Rejecting the referendum is not in the interest of the regime

Is Mr. Khatami joking? This is not a government of law. This is the government of Tyrant by the Tyrant, for the Tyrant. Mr. Khatami should know that better than anyone else. He was and is a member of it. During his presidency, did he respect the law and the constitution clause 27 which states peaceful protest is legal? No, he treated the protesters the way they are treated today. Now, all of sudden he is expecting this drug cartel calling itself the government to follow the law? Who is he fooling? He has been a happy member of this mafia government.

Iranian people should not to be fooled again. Khomeini and his mullah clan used Iranian people to install themselves in 1979. They told people they will have justice and democracy. Instead, they robbed people of their national wealth, their individual freedom, their dignity, their proud history, and their respect on the world stage. Iranians should not be fooled by this quarrel between robbers and thieves.

The law and justice were murdered thirty years ago with mullahs coup d eta. People of Iran gradually woke up and realized they have made a pact with the devil, a devil worse than what they had before 1979. Pretense of democracy and election has been for world stage and an effort to legitimize an otherwise illegitimate and incompetent government. The notion of free election when the government decides who should or should not be a candidate is a joke and insult to intelligence of every Iranian. I hope people are not fooled again and continue their struggle until they have a constitutional government and until they cleanse the country from crimes being perpetrated on them in the name of Islam. I hope they kick clergies out of the government and send them back to mosque where they belong. It is time for a constitutional republic of Iran.
